*The Convergence of Telehealth with Health Information Technology: What Does
It Mean for Rural Providers?: A discussion with Christina Thielst, Northwest
Regional Telehealth Resource Center and Cathy Britain, Telehealth Alliance
of Oregon.

*Telemedicine and remote monitoring will play a significant role in the
healthcare delivery system of the future. Telehealth networks will be an
important resource for providers who want to enhance service offerings,
improve efficiency with remote care applications and participation in Health
Information Exchange (HIE). The involvement of telehealth networks in HIE
initiatives will lead to the next generation of interoperability and a
blended vision for both health IT and telehealth which will transform
telehealth infrastructure into the highway for electronic health records and
information exchange for many rural and remote areas.
