Each educational session will be followed by a separate Q+A/technical assistance session. Subject matter experts in the field will be available to assist you in your implementation. * *After completing this training and TA series, participants will be able to: * 1. *Identify for their own organization one or more telebehavioral health service models that are clinically appropriate and a pathway to sustainability;* 2. *Identify and engage the range of stakeholders necessary to successfully establish telebehavioral health services;* 3. *Coordinate their telebehavioral health activities with pertinent local, state and federal partners.* *The T/TA Series is targeted to organizations that have determined that telebehavioral health services are part of their future and want to move forward. The training uses the Triple Aim and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Practice Transformation as a framework.* *1 The SAMHSAHRSA CIHS (www.integration.samhsa.gov), providing technical assistance and the dissemination of resources, promotes the development of integrated primary and behavioral health services to better address the needs of individuals with mental health and substance use conditions, whether seen in specialty behavioral health or primary care provider settings. CIHS is run by the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare under a cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and funded jointly by the SAMHSA and HRSA.* To find out more and to view the full flyer for the series, please *click here* . Tele-ICU comes of age The time is right for tele-ICU. The need for more intensive-care beds is acute. The cost of caring for critically ill patients has never been higher. Intensivists are in short supply, and only getting scarcer as the population gets older. Telemedicine: More than just academic Sarah Pletcher, MD, medical director of the year-old Center for Telehealth at Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, tried for a long time to get a telemedicine program up and running in her rural region: hundreds of "moose-intensive miles" dotted by 30 to 40 rural clinics. It wasn't easy. State Policy Summit: Progress is good More than 120 pieces of legislation were introduced in state legislatures across the country last year that dealt in some way with telehealth. Chances are very few of them defined "telehealth" the same way. ROI? To some of the industry's top vendors, that's just three letters So just how do you measure the ROI in telemedicine? In the final Industry Executive Session Tuesday afternoon at the ATA's 18th Annual International Meeting & Trade Show, even the experts weren't sure. Why not MU for telemedicine? Imagine if telemedicine had the same government support that EHRs have garnered. That's the steep and thorny path on which Ryan Spaulding took his audience during a public policy discussion at the American Telemedicine Association's annual meeting here this week.
