limiting potential growth in the delivery of clinical services. No

Clinical genetics and genetic counselors are in very short supply across
the country even as demand for genetic services
increases with new genetic discoveries every day that can impact a person’s
health. Some states do not even have a clinical
geneticist within the state. Recently, a national survey conducted National
Coordinating Center for the Regional Genetics
Collaboratives’ Telegenetics Work Group (funded by HRSA) found that some
genetics specialists were trying to expand their
services by using telegenetics in their practice. This webinar will: 1)
Describe the demographics of genetic service providers in
the U.S., 2) Describe the services provided, 3) Present the data from the
survey about who is providing telegenetic services in
the U.S., and 4) Discuss future plans to expand telegenetics activities in
collaboration with the Telehealth Resource Centers.
