Greetings!
Late Tuesday evening the contents of the year-end omnibus spending package
were released as H.R. 2617. The bill which is intended to avert a
government shutdown, contained good news for telehealth providers. It includes
a two-year extension of telehealth-related regulatory flexibilities for
Medicare beneficiaries put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bill needs to be passed by both the Senate and the House and signed
into law prior to the adjournment of the 117th Congress on January 3, 2023.
If passed, the bill would extend pandemic-era telehealth and
hospital-at-home waivers through December 31, 2024.
The bill *did not* include a similar two-year extension for the waiver of
the Ryan Haight Act.
More details will be available after the bill is signed and more analysis
can be done.
