Join TeleSpecialists Dr. Theresa Sevilis, board-certified vascular neurologist to review the American Heart Association Guidelines for the Early Management of Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke. Dr. Sevilis will discuss the indications, relative contraindications, and absolute contraindications for thrombolytics, provide cases for review, and discuss how to use the Guidelines in the decision making process. She will highlight the most commonly asked questions surrounding thrombolytic administration and discuss the new utilization of tenecteplase in place of alteplase.



Learning Objectives:

  *   Identify the indications for thrombolytics treatment
  *   Describe the absolute contraindications to thrombolytics treatment
  *   Recognize the evidence behind relative contraindications and
  *   Identify a framework for decision-making

Presenter Biography:
Dr.  Sevilis is a Board-certified in both Neurology and Vascular Neurology. She attended Midwestern University for medical school and completed her neurology residency at Kaiser Permanente Southern California. Her vascular neurology fellowship was completed at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Dr. Sevilis joined TeleSpecialists as a TeleNeurologist in 2017 and became a Regional Medical Director in January of 2019. In 2020, she became Chairman of the Educational Advisory Counsel and in 2021, she was appointed as the Medical Director of the Section of Academic Advancement, overseeing Clinical Education and Research for TeleSpecialists.
