Hey all, hope everyone is doing well. Here are a couple announcements from
our Network partners regarding upcoming events and funding opportunities
that might be of interest to you. Please feel free to distribute.

*NEWS*
*Congrats to California for the launch of the California Coastal Geoportal!*
- The California Ocean Protection Council (OPC) is pleased to announce
the launch of the California Coastal
Geoportal<http://portal.gis.ca.gov/geoportal/catalog/OPC/OPC.page>.
The new Coastal Geoportal provides state agency staff and the public with a
user-friendly website for finding high priority coastal and marine
datasets, such as aerial photos, marine protected areas, and coastal
habitats, with links to the data sources. Users can view the data on a map
using the Coastal Viewer, share maps, and overlay multiple data layers to
see what is happening on our shoreline and out in our ocean. The Coastal
Geoportal also includes a list of tools and resources where one can
discover other related data holdings and tools, including the NOAA Sea
Level Rise Viewer and California’s ocean observing data. This increased
access to datasets will improve the use of scientific information in
coastal and ocean resource management decision making.

*The Nature Conservancy Seeks Contractor for OR-WA Estuaries Inventor*
- To gain a better understanding of the role of West Coast estuaries as
production zones for fisheries, the Nature Conservancy is working
with the Pacific
Marine and Estuarine Fish Habitat
Partnership<http://www.pacificfishhabitat.org/> (PMEP)
and other partners to conduct a coast-wide assessment of the nursery
function of West Coast estuaries. As a first step in the process, the
Conservancy is seeking a contractor to identify existing estuary
classification efforts in Oregon and Washington and design an authoritative
geo-database that can be used for the nursery assessment as well as other
purposes. Requests for Proposals are due by *12noon PST on September 30,
2013*. Additional details about the project and deliverables can be
found in the attached RFP. Please feel free to contact Jena Carter with any
questions at jcarter at tnc.org.
*The WCGA West Coast Ocean Data Portal is committed to increasing the
discoverability and connectivity of West Coast ocean and coastal data and
people to inform regional priorities like marine debris, adaptation to sea
level rise, and ocean acidification. *
