*West Coast Ocean Data Network* - Happy fall greetings! I am excited to
share updates regarding recent WCODP activities and progress. In
particular, we are excited to announce a new funding source for the WCODP
as well as the launch of training resources to help build capacity for data
sharing in the region.

*Moore Funding*
In recognition of the role of regional data coordination in supporting
marine planning activities, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has
awarded the WCODP funds to support greater coordination of the West Coast
Ocean Data Network with state, federal, and tribal partners and the
synthesis of priority data sets. The award also includes funding to support
other foundational work of the West Coast Regional Planning Body to
identify sub-regional planning issues and conduct an ocean science
assessment. The West Coast Ocean Data Network working groups will be
discussing these tasks over the next several months. If you would like to
learn more or find out about how participate in these discussions contact
the WCODP Coordinator <todd.r.hallenbeck at gmail.com>.

*Knowledge Base*
The WCODP team is excited to announce the launch of the West Coast Ocean
Data Portal Knowledge Base (http://wcodp.readthedocs.org/). The Knowledge
Base is a technical resource for data managers and data partners who would
like to participate and share their geospatial metadata, data and/or web
services with the larger community of West Coast ocean data users. This
Knowledge Base describes steps to register
<http://wcodp.readthedocs.org/contribute/contribute.html> data in the
WCODP, tips, tools, and best practices for developing good metadata
<http://wcodp.readthedocs.org/metadata/metadata.html> and web mapping
services <http://wcodp.readthedocs.org/webservices/webservices.html>,
interoperability of web catalog services
<http://wcodp.readthedocs.org/catalogs/catalogs.html>, and details about
the technology <http://wcodp.readthedocs.org/technology/technology.html>
behind the WCODP. Explore the site and let us know what you think!

*West Coast NOAA Job Opportunity*
The Baldwin Group, Inc. (TBG), a contractor to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management, seeks an
exceptional individual to provide remote sensing and geospatial
coordination as well as technical support in the West Coast region
(California, Oregon, and Washington). The successful candidate will serve
as the West Coast regional geospatial specialist assisting in the
development and implementation of regional activities, coordinating and
providing direct technical assistance in the region, and participating in
other Office for Coastal Management geospatial and remote sensing projects.
