That might have been me... I formed a "Youth Services Advisory Council" last year - 10 total including myself sit on it, I had them all apply (31 applicants) for 2-year terms. They're helping me develop a reading list for Libraries Rock, they presented a summer reading webinar, chose a picture book for our Ready to Read Michigan program, etc. We meet 4 times a year, in person, for an hour and a half. They do get millage reimbursement through LSTA. Let me know if you need more details.

Subject: [yscon] OT: Youth Services Advisory Committees

Good Afternoon All,

Enjoying all of the robust follow up since our meeting at the Symposium - thank you to all who have shared resources!

About a year ago, someone posted to the list about creating a successful advisory group to assist the YSCon with developing topics and work groups for training. Inspired, I requested, and won approval, to start a like group in Kentucky...but now I have to find time to get it going!

Anyone still/currently doing this, and if so, are you able to share documents about the creation process, from applications and soliciting membership, to meeting agendas?

Thanks for the consideration,
~Krista
