[yscon] another summer reading question about cslp

More greetings from soggy & humid North Carolina!

[Refrain: I'm not sure how it was done in the past...] Last year I wasn't here to order the manuals and so bless Karen Day's heart, she set aside 400 USBs for our libraries. For simplicity's sake, I ordered the exact same thing this year. For the future I will think about letting libraries choose their format, and having a default if I don't hear from them. Only library voiced any dislike for the USB this year, so I feel that's a win overall!

Hi Greta and friends,

I offer Ohio's 251 systems (~750 total library buildings) a choice among USB, DVD, and online, with USB as the default. Each system may choose only 1 format. I offered mix-n-match one year (the first year CSLP had USB format) and it was a nightmare. I'm a notoriously accommodating person, but that experience forced me to set some limits.

The librarians know that USB (and DVD) come with the online access code, and most seem to like having both. Last year I ordered:
107 online only
644 USB
39 DVD
6 paper: 2 for the State Library collection - we catalog them with the state documents - and one each for our regional library systems.

Our survey is currently open for librarians to request format changes, contact person updates, and (new this year) opting out of the paper Demco catalog. It looks like this:

The number of libraries continuing to want DVD format surprises me. Are their computers so old as to not have USB ports? Ugh. Our computers are a couple years old and don't have DVD drives.
