 The Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest (NARA NW) is Indian-owned and Indian-operated.  As a private non-profit organization, NARA's135 employees are dedicated to providing culturally appropriate physical and mental health services and substance abuse treatment for American Indians, Alaska Natives and other vulnerable people.  We are currently seeking the following energetic team members:
 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently granted NARA funds for three new projects described below.  Call or email if you would like full job descriptions. Circles of Care - The purpose is to convene a planning process to facilitate the development of an integrated, holistic and culturally-relevant system of care for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN), ages 0-22, diagnosed as, or at risk of becoming, seriously emotionally disturbed (SED).   Plan will incorporate and coordinate services available in Portland 'metro area' (Washington, Multnomah, and Clackamas counties in Oregon and Clark county in Washington state) and in which at least 15,024 Indians reside.  These counties have multiple public and private (both AI/AN specific and dominate culture) agencies serving Indian children and families with little, if any, history of coordination or collaboration of culturally specific services.·            Project Director - Collaborate to develop integrated, holistic culturally relevant plan for seriously emotionally disturbed youth or those at risk.  Qualifications include:  BS/BA, Master's preferred; two years relevant experience.  Must be able to demonstrate empathy. ·        Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator - plan, coordinate & implement activities of Circles of Care Program; provide direct support for all area of project including education and outreach.  Qualifications include:  HS diploma or equivalent; computer proficiency; 2 yrs exp duties performing duties of this position; very organized, skillful communicator.·           Administrative Assistant (.5 FTE) - provides administrative support to Project Director.  Qualifications include:  Post-high school education including course work in word processing & computer skills plus 2 yrs exp in performing above duties; or HS diploma + 4 yrs esp in performing above duties; type 40 wpm, computer proficiency, work w/sovereign nations, a plus.  Tact & professionalism. No More Fallen Feathers - Youth Suicide Prevention - The purpose is to create a youth suicide prevention program for a coalition of the nine Oregon Tribes and the Portland Native American community based upon traditional spiritual and cultural beliefs integrated with known best practices in youth suicide prevention. The program is designed to raise community awareness, mobilize and train local and state resources and provide Native American youth critical protective factors that will reduce and/or eliminate youth suicide in Native American communities throughout Oregon.·          Project Director- Develop, implement and manage program, "No More Fallen Feathers Program," collaborate with nine Oregon tribes.  Supervise day-to-day grant objectives.  Qualifications include:  work with tribal sovereign nations, BS/BA or equivalent, two years relevant experience.·            Administrative Assistant (FTE) - provides administrative support to Project Director.  Qualifications include:  Post-high school education including course work in word processing & computer skills plus 2 yrs exp in performing above duties; or HS diploma + 4 yrs esp in performing above duties; type 40 wpm, computer proficiency, work w/sovereign nations, a plus.  Tact & professionalism.Warrior Down Grant - The purpose is to expand NARA NW's substance abuse treatment capabilities by enhancing the availability of comprehensive, high-quality, family centered, relapse prevention and recovery support services for Native Americans, aged 18 and older, and their immediate family members (parents with children or pregnant women) in Multnomah County.·        Project Director - Collaborate to expand NARA's substance abuse treatment capacity with a family-centered approach.  Qualifications include:  BS/BA, direct experience with scientific research, preferred, high computer proficiency especially with data; two years experience performing stated duties and responsibilities.·        Chemical Dependency Counselor - Collaborate to facilitate clients' progress toward treatment goals. Work with clients to establish realistic, achievable goals consistent with achieving and maintaining recovery.   Qualifications include:  Certified Chemical Dependency Specialist I; one year's paid experience; empathy for clients, understanding of alcoholism as disease; knowledge of AA, NA, Alateen and similar programs. Family Skills Coordinator - assure that adequate care is accessed and social service needs are met, coordinate & integrate services and conduct home visits to assist clients in obtaining needed resources.  Qualifications include:  AA degree in social services & 2 yrs exp or HS diploma/GED & 4 hrs exp-  or any combination of education and experience indicating ability to fulfill essential functions, 1 yr in field of chemical dependency treatment, preferred. Located at Outpatient Treatment Center - 1631 SW Columbia Street, Portland, OR  97205
 Health Programs Grants Manager - Perform administrative, professional and technical functions related to agency contracts and grants, ensure contract/grant compliance.  Qualifications include:  BS/BA or equivalent; experience building grant programs and/or experience performing noted duties. Quality Assurance (QA) Manager - Work on special QA projects; help assure agency compliance standards, serve as NARA's HIPAA expert.  Qualifications include:  BS/BA; four years relevant experience; high software proficiency; relevant experience in social service a plus. Indian Health Clinic - 15 N. Morris, Portland, OR  97227
 Nurse Manager (RN - days, Portland, OR) - supervises Team Nurses and Medical Assistants; clinical supervision and administrative duties like QA and staff trainings; healthcare delivery with Clinical Management Team who implement best practices in nursing, clinic flow, customer service, leadership and health education; coordinate schedules according to quality and productivity standards and grant requirements.  Qualifications include:  Registered Nurse in State of Oregon, BSN or Master's degree in health related field; two years primary care clinic and two years health care delivery staff management.Data Specialist/Case Management Coordinator - data entry and case management with outreach support, as needed; assist staff of Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program to meet goals by recruiting and tracking eligible clients.  Qualifications include:  high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or Associate degree preferred; any satisfactory combination of experience and training performing above-described duties; advanced computer skills; some evenings and weekends.Registered Nurse days, Portland, OR - Implement best practices (including tobacco cessation and prevention and diabetes); meet standards and grant requirements.  Triage in clinic on rotation basis, assist in coordinating tobacco cessation program and nutritional services.  Qualifications include:  Registered Nurse licensed by State of Oregon, BSN Preferred; two years experience in health care and applicable responsibilities; tobacco experience, preferred.Lead Front Desk - Assist Front Office manager and lead coordination of general operations.  Qualifications include:  post-high school, intermediate computer and leadership skills. Outpatient Treatment Center - 1631 SW Columbia Street, Portland, OR  97205
Clinical Supervisor - Use skills to provide clinical coordination and monitoring care for outpatient treatment service components; ensure effective staff communication and continuity of services.  Qualifications include:  Certified Chemical Dependency Specialist II; one year paid experience as chemical dependency counselor; two years experience in counseling and/or social service field; disciplined empathy for alcohol/drug abuse clients; understanding of alcoholism as disease; knowledge of AA, NA, Alateen and other support programs.Outpatient and Residential Treatment Centers
 Child Care Worker, temporary, on-call (Range starts at $10/hr DOE.) - Care for children during special events or provide relief at Outpatient and Residential Treatment facilities as well as at off-site special events. Qualifications include:  High school diploma/GED with 2+years relevant experience, lift 50 lbs. Outpatient and Residential Treatment Centers
Admissions Assistant - Assist Admission staff & provide information to requesting agencies and/or individuals and assist admissions of all clients entering residential chemical dependency treatment.  Qualifications include:  HS diploma or equivalent + 1 yr exp in chemical dependency treatment field, disciplined empathy for individuals recovering from chemical dependency/abuse and have an understanding of the illness concept of chemical dependency/abuse, experience in fulfilling responsibilities listed above or equivalents.#  #  # All pay scales depend on experience.
