Dear YSPNetworkers,
A new report, Violent Deaths in Oregon: 2004, has just been published
and is available online at
http://www.oregon.gov/DHS/ph/ipe/nvdrs/docs/ViolentDeathinOregon2004.pdf.

Among the 771 violent deaths of Oregonians in 2004, 550 (71.3%) were by
suicide.

The data comes from the Oregon Violent Death Reporting System, which is
a statewide, active surveillance system that collects detailed
information on all homicides, suicides, deaths of undetermined intent,
deaths resulting from legal intervention, and deaths related to
unintentional firearm injuries.

You can find detailed information about these deaths by age, gender,
county and much, much more. Check it out! This is a valuable report for
understanding the problem in Oregon and in your county, for making
funding decisions, targeting prevention efforts, making grant requests,
etc.

With regards,
Donna
