YSPNetworkers,
I'm copying an article from the Spark (www.sprc.org) FYI:
SSRI antidepressants may lower adult suicide risk, U.S. News & World Report, Feb. 3, 2009
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants (SSRIs) may significantly reduce suicide risk in depressed adults, according to a new analysis by researchers from the World Health Organization and the University of Verona (Italy). This finding contrasts with the results of previous research, including a 2007 study by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to the authors of the WHO/University of Verona study, "While the FDA found a neutral effect of SSRIs (or a promoting effect in adults aged 18-25), we found a strong protective effect associated with SSRI treatment in adults."
