National Research Council and Institute of Medicine Report states
stronger effort needed to prevent mental, emotional, and behavioral
problems in young people; research shows many prevention programs work.

The federal government should make preventing mental, emotional, and
behavioral disorders and promoting mental health in young people a
national priority, says a new report from the National Research Council
and Institute of Medicine, Preventing mental, emotional, and behavioral
disorders among young people: Progress and possibilities. These
disorders take a tremendous toll on young people*s well-being and cost
the U.S. an estimated $247 billion annually.
