Learn how to recognize persons who may be at elevated risk of suicide and what to say and do to keep that person safe until the appropriate level of help can become involved by attending an ASIST workshop.?

There are a five seats left in?the next?ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) workshop, scheduled for?Boardman, Oregon, on January 13 and 14, 2009.

ASIST is listed on the State of Oregon's List of Approved Evidence-Based Practices and on the national Suicide Prevention Resource Center's list of Best Practices. It is also the training standard for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK). 

ASIST is for counselors, teachers, mental health specialists and other "gatekeepers" who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.

Over 900,000 people have participated in this two-day, highly interactive, practical, practice-oriented workshop. ASIST will help you recognize and estimate risk and prepare you to intervene. It uses award-winning videos, structured small-group discussions and practice with an emphasis on real-life situations and community building.
