I want to share this positive story that was in today's Spark (from
SPRC http://www.sprc.org/news/index.asp) about a group of high school
kids on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state who are engaged in
youth suicide prevention. See below for the SPRC summary; to link to the

hope this is inspiring to your work. These teens live in a very small,
rural town with fewer than 300 youth k-12.

Washington :  Crescent School students honored for suicide prevention
work , The Peninsula Daily News, Nov. 8, 2009 
The youth suicide prevention peer counseling team at the Crescent
School in Joyce, Washington has received honors from the Youth Suicide
Prevention Program, a Seattle-based nonprofit, for the third time.
During the past school year, the seven-member organization led a suicide
prevention conference; held a suicide prevention *walk and talk* event
at the school track; and traveled to six schools in the state and gave
more than 20 presentations on preventing youth suicide. The group is
named Students Offering Support, or SOS.

Spark Extra! A local teenager who made a prank call to a suicide
hotline was sentenced (by a group of his peers, through a local court
diversion program) to participate in one of SOS*s suicide prevention
