YSPNetworkers,
There is still time to sign up for the Oregon Prevention Conference Sept. 14-17th at  http://sappdev.uoregon.edu/conferences/ ! The lineup of presentations and workshops in this multidisciplinary conference is awesome!
 
If you are unable to attend the full conference, consider attending one or two Skill Building Sessions on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 9-4:30. There are some great suicide prevention sessions: 
Ken Norton from New Hampshire will present on "Building Community Networks for Suicide Prevention & Intervention in the morning. He is nationally known and his program is on SPRC's Best Practice Registry (see http://www.sprc.org/featured_resources/bpr/PDF/ConnectFrameworksPrevention.pdf). If you are involved in community coalition and networking, this is a must-attend workshop!
Ken is presenting on "Reducing Risk & Healing After a Suicide Death" in the afternoon. This model for postvention is also a Best Practice:  http://www.sprc.org/featured_resources/bpr/PDF/ConnectFrameworksPostvention.pdf 
Jason Yarmer will present QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) in the morning. Also a Best Practice, and Jason is a great presenter! http://www.sprc.org/featured_resources/bpr/PDF/QPR_FactSheet.pdf 
There are more excellent skill-building sessions on Tuesday. Although not specific to suicide prevention,  will help all of us in prevention. If you can attend the full conference, I encourage you to do so. There are many suicide prevention workshops throughout the rest of the week and the whole conference will be worth your time and money! I hope to meet you there!
