Thanks Valerie, one of our tireless volunteers, and Emily-Jane @ MCL for helping to answer this question. And thanks Lenora @ StreamNet Regional Library for offering him use of your library's open book scanner!

Subject: Patron needs help digitizing rare book

Good morning Answerlanders,

A patron is looking for help:

"I'm looking for a book scanner that is available for use by the public (either paid or free) in the state of Oregon. By book scanner I mean the automated page flipper / camera machine that helps you digitize a book one owns (for personal use/archiving). [...] This book is so rare I can't really entertain the idea of sending it in the mail for fear of losing it. [...] I was trying to digitize the book so I could search it [...] it's a family genealogy book."

You can find this question (#12806172) in the Shared Followup list in QuestionPoint.
