“We have a patron asking for help finding the title of a book read long
ago. It was a novel published over 20 years ago by a female Australian
author. She won some literary prize when the book was first published. The
story is about an American family living in Washington DC. The father in
the family worked with plants and rocks and may have been a geologist. He
worked for the government. The father and daughter had some sort of
conflicted relationship. At the end of the book, the daughter took poison.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions that you can provide.”
