Hello CAFR Contacts,
In the event that you are not on the SFMS-News, I wanted to share this email on the CAFR Contacts News. This is important for all agencies using SFMA as described below, even those that do not receive an allocation for GASB 68 (and therefore GASB 75) from SARS.
Thank you,
Rob

Subject: [SFMS-News] New object codes for PERS payroll expenses
Hello,
Currently, the OSPA interface into SFMA records all PERS costs under Comptroller Object 3210. Beginning with July Run 1 payroll, the PERS costs will be broken down into greater detail (see below). Comptroller Object 3210 will continue to be used. This change is necessary for the accounting and reporting related to employer participation in pension and other post-employment benefit plans pursuant to GASB Statement No. 68 and 75, respectively.
SFMS has created the new Comptroller Object profiles, but agencies that use Agency Object profiles (R*STARS D11 screen) need to establish the following new D11 profiles for both AY 17 and AY 19 no later than 6/30/17 in order to avoid delays in posting these payroll transactions in SFMA.
Payroll transactions (t-code 850) post to the Agency Object field when an agency has set their Agency Control Profile (R*STARS 25 screen) to require agency objects for either "B" - Both Revenues and Expenditures or "E" - Expenditures. Agency Object profiles used on payroll transactions generated from OSPA require the Agency Object to point to the same Comptroller Object Number.
For additional information on creating Agency Object Profiles, please visit the R*STARS Data Entry Guide at Descriptive Profiles<http://www.oregon.gov/das/Financial/AcctgSys/Documents/Chapter_5_Desc_Profiles.html#_Toc161476639>. Please contact your SFMS Agency Analyst if you have any questions regarding the new profiles.
