[CAFR-Contacts-News] SARS Long-term Debt Training

Hello CAFR Contacts,

I'm pleased to announce that SARS will again be providing a training on accounting for long-term debt.  This training will occur on Tuesday, June 20 at the Employment Auditorium, located at 875 Union Street NE in Salem, and will be led by Senior Accounting Analyst Sangit Shrestha and Financial Reporting and Policy Analyst Michael Cutler.  The training will be from 8:00 - 11:30 and CPE will be available.

This training is voluntary and any agency, not just those with long-term debt, may send as many representatives as they wish, so please be sure to sign up early.  Consistent with last year, the training will include handouts and in-class exercises.

- Recording the Initial Debt Issuance

- Refunding a Debt Issue
- Recording Year End Transactions
- Disclosure Requirements

Please note this training will incorporate the changes in the long-term debt process enacted earlier this year, namely the use of Treasury/Union Bank instead of Wells Fargo and DAS invoicing for costs of issuance.
