Hello CAFR Contacts,

As this is a priority for Governor Brown, please see the job announcements below.

Greetings,

As you may recall, we asked for your assistance several weeks ago to help the Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Welfare Division conduct a hiring surge effort designed to attract diverse candidates to fill more than 300 vacancies within the State of Oregon. This recruitment effort has been conducted in accordance with Governor Brown's Executive Order 19-03<https://www.oregon.gov/gov/Documents/executive_orders/eo_19-03.pdf>.

I am pleased to report that the efforts of our partners and stakeholders were instrumental in executing a highly successful recruiting effort that attracted more than 6000 applications so far. We were impressed to find that approximately 91% of these applicants self-certified that they met the minimum qualifications. We are very pleased to report that as of 9/27/19, we have invited 66% of the candidate pool to complete the first round of interviews using the virtual interview process.

More significantly, during our initial applicant solicitation effort approximately 1/3 of the applicants self-identified as being among those who are ethnically diverse. During the initial sourcing effort, we focused on attracting applicants whose ethnicity is representative of the communities they would be serving. Additionally, applicant representation consisted of 10% who chose not to be identified by gender, with approximately 70% female and 20% male. Again, we applaud the efforts of those of you who personally assisted us with getting the word out about this incredibly important Child Welfare hiring surge initiative.

As successful as this hiring surge has been, we still need your help to get the job done! We are respectfully asking you to help us continue to identify potential opportunities to find top talent in several DHS Districts.

Whatever you can do to share with your networks, business organization affiliates, personal referral contacts, and media partners, will be greatly appreciated. As a reminder, we encourage you to forward the following link anywhere to anyone who might be interested in helping Oregon's children and families by joining the Child Welfare team:
