Piloting New easyCBM Reading & Vocabulary Measures-All Teachers are Invited to Help!

Oregon teachers are invited to pilot the next round of easyCBMs. Use of easyCBMs is currently free and will continue to be free to all Oregon schools.

Time Needed: 25 - 35 minutes, total
Pilot Testing Window: October 15 and November 15, 2010
Grades: 3 - 8
Structure: These tests require computers with Internet access. They are designed for whole-class administration in a group setting with individual computers for students.
No Feedback Will Be Given: Because this is the first time the measures are being used with students, teachers will not receive scores from these pilot tests.
Privacy Ensured: Students, teachers, and schools will not provide any identifying information.
Teachers of any subject will:

* Bring their students to a computer lab (or a lab to their students)

* Have students log on to the website set up specifically to pilot these new tests (ies.easycbm.com): NOTE - Please do NOT access this site prior to Oct. 15; it will not be "live" until the pilot testing window is open.

* Monitor the room while the students take the tests
Students will:

* Click on their grade level.

* Complete a series of reading tests, which might include:

o Vocabulary

o Non-fiction reading

o Multiple choice 'complete the sentence' maze tests
AAND, provided enough teachers participate in the piloting-
The University of Oregon easyCBM Research Team will:

* Analyze the results of the pilot testing from Nov. 16 - December 1

* Use the results to create multiple alternate forms of each of the test types during December

* Load the new measures to the easyCBM website so they are available for use starting in January 2011!
October 15 - November 15, 2010
Take your class to the ies.easycbm.com website and have students work their way through as many of the reading tests as they can complete in the time you have allotted.

Thank you for your help in bringing new forms of reading assessments to easyCBM. We couldn't do it without you!
