The World Affairs Council of Oregon presents:
Teach East Asia
A Conference for K-12 Educators*
University of Oregon in Portland
70 NW Couch Street, Portland, Oregon
Saturday, May 21, 2011
8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

This timely Conference will open with a Keynote Panel of experts who will speak about
"East Asia: Today and Tomorrow"
And continue with breakout sessions and curricular workshops on
CHINA, JAPAN & KOREA.

This unique cultural immersion experience will also include a continental breakfast and
a mid-day Korean lunch, entertainment and Information Fair / Marketplace.
Breakout sessions will address history and contemporary issues, art and architecture, theater, music and dance, language and calligraphy, religion and ceremony &pop culture.
Conference highlights will include walking tours of the Lan Su Chinese Garden and
the historic Japanese and Chinese neighborhood in which the garden is located.
Vouchers will be provided for a later visit to the Japanese Garden as well.

The deadline for registration is May 13th, 2011.
The cost for teachers is $25, full-time college students is $15 and the general public is $40.

*This Conference is the third in our Teach the World Educator Conference and Youth Forum Series.
It will be followed on December 09, 2011 by a Teach East Asia Youth Forum for Middle & High School students.
Conference attendees will be given an opportunity at the conference to pre-register
