Venue

This year, our GIS in Action conference will add Portland State
University

021399,0.035306&hl=en>  as a new co-sponsor, joining the local URISA and
local ASPRS chapters which have hosted the conference in past years.
Holding the conference at Portland State creates exciting opportunities
to include PSU students from other departments, members of the open
source community and engineering, surveying and natural resources
professionals who are all an important part of the GIS community.  

Call for posters! Submit your posters for the poster session at the
conference.  Open categories for posters are:

*	 Technically advanced applications
*	  Collaborative GIS
*	 GIS for 'real-world' problem solving
*	  Innovative application of GIS

Conference Highlights

*	ASPRS/URISA will be providing a table for posting your resumes
and job openings.

*	Conference introduction by PSU President, Wim Wiewel.

*	Guest Speakers: on Wednesday morning, Ken Murphy (Director of
Oregon Emergency Management) will speak, and on Thursday at 3:30 PM,
James Fee (of Spatially Adjusted) will present the closing keynote. 

*	The Exhibit Hall will open on Wednesday at 8:00AM and remain
open until Thursday at 2:00PM. The hall will feature as many as 20
vendors in GIS related technology and services. This is an opportunity
to see and discuss the latest advances in the industry. 

*	NASA Ames Research Center will present a case study on a local
application of their award winning World Wind Open Source Software. 

*	ArcPython hands on training using ArcGIS 10. Several registrants
have asked how to sign up for the Arcpy.mapping hands-on workshop.  Sign
up is first come, first serve when you pick-up your registration packet.
There will be sign-up sheets at the registration table. (sign-up is
required along with attendance at Map Automation Session) 

*	The Vendor Social will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00PM
to 7:00PM in the Exhibit Hall. Join your peers in a more relaxed
atmosphere with food and beverages. Entertainment to be provided by the
award-winning Cleveland High School Jazz Combo

in your registration packet.

*	The Poster Session will be held during the Vender Social.
Ballots for the People's Choice are included in your registration
packet. Please take it to the Exhibit Hall and vote.
