The Oregon State University Department of Geosciences seeks candidates  
for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term position, to begin  
September 16, 2011. This is a two-year visiting position with the  
possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will have a strong emphasis in geographic  
information systems (GIS), and will be expected to teach up to 4  
courses per year, advise graduate students in Geography, and engage in  
scholarly research and publication/presentation. The candidate will be  
encouraged to develop new GIS courses according to interest/expertise,  
actively contribute to the current certificate programs, and to  
develop a new certificate program as appropriate. Interest and  
expertise in marine resource management and/or geospatial intelligence/ 
environmental security, as well as GIS programming are a big plus. The  
successful applicant must also show a commitment to advancing the  
participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.

Candidates must have a PhD in Geography or related field at the time
