GIS Management Position

Requisition# 120009

Hiring Range : 63,200.00 - 81,300.00

Position : Fulltime

Location : Portland, OR

General Purpose

GIS production supervisor provides technical and operational leadership
to GIS Production Staff.  Implement business objectives, strategies, and
plans and oversees daily work functions.  Manage projects/assignments
and coordinate with customer clients.  Provide analysis and feasibility
studies, establish project goals, negotiate timelines/schedules, and
develop project plans. As a working supervisor assists with production
work when needed.  Works with Director of GIS, Mapping and Data
Management on initiatives to migrate the current mapping and
connectivity environment to a full GIS environment.

Responsibilities of this position include the following:

*	Provide staff supervision and related administrative duties
*	Assist in prioritization of daily production work and support
services ensuring productivity and quality goals are set, measured, met
and maintained.
*	Lead company efforts to develop and improve mapping, find and
implement efficiencies and provide recommendations on the use of
technologies. Work across PacifiCorp groups to ensure proper management
and delivery of geospatial data and develop working relationships and
agreements.
*	Provide plans, processes, targets and implementation and
feedback mechanisms or tools for establishing best practices.
*	Manage projects, customer client expectations and related
interaction between customers and the project team(s).
*	Interpret and map engineering drawings and field mark-ups per
detailed drawings from estimators, engineers while maintaining
department standards/guidelines.
*	Assist with analysis, recommendations and/or implementation of
technical procedure and process enhancements.
*	Develop and monitor industry and internal benchmarks to measure
continuous improvements in financial and system performance.
*	Facilitate team efforts, provide guidance and direction to team
members, and communicate project objectives, parameters, status, and
outcomes.

Requirements of this position include the following:

*	Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, geographic
information systems (GIS) or the equivalent combination of education and
experience.
*	Supervisory, leadership and teamwork skills including the
ability to implement action plans for achieving objectives and to
oversee daily operations.
*	A minimum of six years working in a high volume mapping/GIS
production environment.
*	Significant experience with AutoCAD, electrical utility
operations, electrical systems connectivity, and related mapping and
spatial data management.
*	Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate team
efforts, provide guidance and direction to team members, communicate
expectations, project objectives, parameters, status, and outcomes.
*	Significant experience with ArcGIS 9x/10x and related data
formats.
*	Assessment skills including problem diagnosis and identification
of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
*	Analytical and evaluation skills to define critical tasks,
establish sequence of events, identify individuals/teams, timelines, and
outcomes, and product project plans.
*	Project management skills to develop and monitor work and
budgets, determine specifications, schedules, timelines, and define
deliverables.

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the above requirements
and have the following:

*	Direct people management experience.
*	Experience working in an electrical utility production mapping
department where GIS was recently implemented.
*	Knowledge of the FastGate mapping system.
*	Experience working with ArcFM.
