The Division of Business, Communication and the Environment program of
Environmental Science and Policy at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is
seeking candidates for a full-time, nine month, tenure track, Assistant
Professor. The successful candidate will teach courses in cartography, GIS,
Remote Sensing, GPS, and environmental data analysis, and may be called
upon to help in delivery of lower and upper division courses in their
specialties. Proven teaching ability and demonstrable research potential
are essential; Ph.D./ABD in Environmental Studies/Sciences, Earth Science,
Geoscience, Geography, or related discipline is required at the time of
appointment. Successful candidates will maintain active scholarly research
programs while contributing to the geospatial technology component of our
undergraduate and graduate programs including Environmental Science &
Policy, Environmental Education, Anthropology, Biology, and other programs.

The candidate should demonstrate competency in the use and application of
GIS and geospatial technology to a broad range of environmental problems,
and have experience incorporating such content into undergraduate or
graduate level instruction curricula. Candidates should show excellent
written and verbal communication skills, organizational and management
experience related to geospatial data, software licenses, and computers in
a teaching computer lab and the ability to support varied student and
faculty research initiatives in these area.
