Hi folks,

A long-time contact (my brother) is working on an automated contact tracing project called Private Automated Contact Tracing<https://pact.mit.edu/>, or PACT, that uses a similar approach to the one Apple and Google recently announced they’re developing. The PACT researchers are currently seeking to better understand the fractions of people with iPhone and Android cell phones and the geographic distribution (rural vs suburban vs urban) of those groups of cell phone users.

Do you have any ideas for datasets or sources they could mine or scrape? If so, please feel free to send me an email at theresasachi1 at gmail.com<mailto:theresasachi1 at gmail.com> or simply reply to this message.

Thanks for considering this request,
Theresa

Subject: GIS data

Hi Theresa,
For the cell phone-based contact tracing project that I told you about, one thing we are trying to better understand is the fraction of people with different categories of cell phones and the geographic distribution (rural vs suburban vs urban communities). We have found some numbers that might represent the averages over the whole country or certain states, but no finer resolution data. Do you any ideas of organizations in the GIS community that might have that kind of data, whether it is in government or academia? Let me know if you have any thoughts.
Here is the website describing the project https://pact.mit.edu

Thanks,
Eric
