We have a job opportunity within the Geography Department @ PCC that is funded through our NSF grant and we want to find someone with the Geospatial skills and knowledge to help with our outreach efforts in a variety of ways. This position will calibrate closely with our faculty and there will be many opportunities to network with the GIS community, as well as showcase GIS/UAS/Geospatial technologies and tools to a wide audience.

Recruiting for a temporary Geospatial Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

16 hrs per week, $29.00 hour

Our Geospatial Information System program is growing! We are recruiting for a part-time Geospatial Retention & Recruitment Specialist to develop a recruitment plan to grow the geospatial program, including:  work with faculty and staff to identify marketing events and recruitment activities; represent the PCC Geospatial Program at events, meet with prospective students, provide presentations and helps students enroll in the Geospatial Program. Initiate partnerships with other PCC departments as necessary.  This position is not remote.


Minimum Qualifications:

  *   GIS certificate, foundational coursework or equivalent work experience
  *   AAS or equivalent
  *   Connections to local GIS professionals and organizations or the willingness to build a network.


Preferred:

  *   Experience working with students and supporting their academic goals
  *   Experience working with diverse populations in a community college setting
  *   Experience planning and executing events such as lecture series, professional workshops, or student engagement activities.
  *   Ability to present information about Geospatial careers, classes & PCC programs to non-GIS audience.
  *   A commitment to participating in our efforts to create a sense of belonging and community to all of our students and to assist in our attempts to increase the involvement of female identifying and BIPOC students


Job Duties:

  *   Recruitment Planning

     *   Collaborate with faculty to identify program needs.
     *   Work with FDC and dean to develop the annual recruitment plan
     *   Create an deliver a Women in Geospatial Careers lecture series in collaboration with Geospatial faculty
     *   Work collaboratively to recruit students for a Geospatial mentoring program
     *   Work with advisor to aid in graduation efforts
     *   Assist with outreach to potential internship sites for geospatial students


  *   Marketing events and Retention activities

     *   Help to recruit high school teachers and community college faculty for summer institutes focused on geospatial technologies
     *   Hold events on PCC campuses & in the community for potential students for Geospatial programs
     *   Work with Geospatial faculty and marketing to develop, revise and maintain marketing materials for Geospatial programs


  *   Attend meetings, department and college

     *   Collaborate, work with groups outside of GEO and work with faculty and staff within and outside of the department
     *   Attending events and participating in professional development to stay up-to-date on geospatial technologies


Job Success Criteria:

  *   Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and dean to establish recruitment goals and planning
  *   Demonstrated technical skills and understanding of GIS and UAV equipment, hardware, and software to the degree necessary to explain the program and curriculum.
  *   Proven ability to work well with colleagues to identify program needs, and to communicate and implement plans.
  *   Demonstrated ability to collaborate with entities within and outside of PCC to educate the community on PCC's Geospatial Program.
  *   Willingness to work with PCC's Outreach and Recruitment department.
  *   Demonstrated ability to understand and support the GIS program's commitment to increasing diversity in our GIS program and widening access in terms of gender, socioeconomics, age, race and ethnicity.


Hours & Days:

Hours span Monday-Friday, occasional evenings and weekends.  This position will support recruitment and information events and gatherings and so may include some evening and weekend work.  This position is not remote. The position is funded through June 2025.
