Dear Public Health Partner,
As you know, each year National Public Health Week (PHW) is the first week or April. This year PHW is April 1-7, 2013. OPHA is coordinating some PHW events in partnership with CLHO, OHA, OHSU, OPHI and APHA.
Two of these activities take place at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem and we are inviting your organization to participate along with OPHA. They are:
* Monday, April 1 (9am-12noon): Public Health displays in the Capitol Galleria. OPHA will provide tables for you to display on. Your organization will need to bring display materials, including a table cloth if you want to have one, and provide a volunteer to staff the table.
* Tuesday, April 2 (12noon-12:45pm): Walk Around the Capitol - I love ME (moving and eating) Marion County Walk highlighting diabetes & obesity prevention. Walk begins at 12noon on the Capitol steps and ends at 12:45pm on the Capitol steps. Your organization--staff, directors, members and/or volunteers, are invited to participate in this walk.
OPHA is also coordinating a statewide PHW calendar of events that is hosted on our website, http://wwworegonpublichealth.org/public-health-week<http://www.oregonpublichealth.org/public-health-week>.
If you would like to participate in either the Capitol Galleria Display on April 1 and/or the Walk Around the Capitol on April 2, or have a PHW event you would like listed on the calendar, please contact me at my email address below. You may also submit your PHW event directly to the OPHA events calendar at http://wwworegonpublichealth.org/events<http://www.oregonpublichealth.org/events>.
I am attaching the Oregon PHW Save the Date Flyer. This flyer lists the two Capitol activities as well as other key events that we are partnering in. Also attached is a printable "PH Week at a Glance" calendar. All events are free and open to the public; we encourage you to distribute the flyer and calendar widely and to attend these activities yourself.
We're excited to be an active part of Oregon's Public Health Week and we hope you will be able to join us in celebrating it!
Sincerely,
Kim Krull
