Dear Tribal Partners,

Please consider submitting a proposal to provide a presentation, panel discussions, and/or workshop at the 26th Annual Northwest Public Employees Diversity Conference held on Tuesday, October 8th at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. The  conference theme this year is : Leading with Racial Equity through Action and Accountability.  You can find more information within the link below.

This year, twenty-one leading municipalities have combined resources to present this one-day conference on October 8, 2019 at the Oregon Convention Center. This collaboration offers a unique opportunity to cross diverse boundaries in pursuit of a common purpose that promotes the values of inclusion, cultural awareness, and equal opportunity.
Who will attend:  Public employees at all organizational levels including line employees, technicians, managers and executives.
We are focusing on the skills and techniques that public employees need to achieve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the public sector workplace. This is your opportunity to train a large group of public employees to better serve our population. As our conference continues to expand, we welcome new ideas and innovations to enhance public service.
The conference is seeking proposals for presentations, panel discussions, and workshops that connect with the conference theme: Leading with Racial Equity through Action and Accountability
Accepted proposals will cover one of the following topics*

  *   How can government improve its services, engagement, and policies to improve outcomes for residents who experience disparate impacts
  *   Best practices for creating an equitable, engaged, and racially just workplace culture
  *   What does accountability look like for community and organizational leaders
  *   Creating opportunities for diverse youth (e.g. development, programs, internships)
  *   Understanding the diverse community you serve - Equitable health and welfare services
  *   Strategies for building bridges between African Americans and the police
  *   Eradicating anti-blackness in public agencies and social services
  *   Racially oppressive culture in the workplace
  *   Community response to poverty and racism
  *   Intersectional approaches to racial equity
  *   How to implement and manage Employee Resource Groups/Affinity groups
  *   Trauma for people of color (panel discussion)
  *   Trauma informed practice specifically addressing anti-blackness
  *   Restorative practices for Human Resources
  *   How to engage if you witness a racist act in the workplace (e.g. ouch moments, bystander training, peer to peer accountability)

IMPORTANT DATES

  *   Online submissions opens - Monday, June 3, 2019
  *   Online submissions closes - Friday, July 19, 2019
  *   Proposal acceptance notification - Friday, August 9, 2019
  *   Final presentation outline, headshot(s), bio(s), and additional needs due - Friday, August 30, 2019
  *   Deadline for handouts for attendees to download - Friday, September 27, 2019
  *   Day of conference - Tuesday, October 8, 2019
