An oyster boat tour. A salmon pit demonstration. A tour about tribal restoration and meeting houses. Behind-the-scenes tours at a brand-new bayfront museum and a historic theater.

Those are just some of the several dozen events and sessions taking place April 22-24 at the Oregon Heritage Conference in the Coos Bay-North Bend area. The conference is organized by Oregon Heritage and co-sponsored by the Coquille Indian Tribe.

First-day arrivals will enjoy the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute's savory fare at an evening reception at the new Coos History Museum. The event will include behind-the-scenes access to exhibit, collections, retail, and gathering spaces with staff on hand and eager to answer any questions -- from fundraising, to construction, to the collections move, to the museum's vision.

Following the reception, you can relax on a shuttle bus to the historic Egyptian Theater and enjoy its stunning architecture, amazing organ and more refreshments. There will also be 1930s film footage shown on the big screen before you climb back on the shuttle to return to the conference headquarters at The Mill Casino and Hotel.
