Heritage in many forms will be highlighted during the Oregon Heritage Conference April 22-24 in Coos Bay-North Bend.

Heritage as art, maps, objects, buildings, electronic information, underwater site or story will be featured during conference events. The sessions include:
n "Using Objects to Tell Stories" will enable you to maximize the information about an object,
n "Underwater Archaeology" will look at the latest developments in wet heritage,
n "New Life for Oregon's Oldest Buildings" will explore feasibility and preservation challenges of settlement-era buildings,
n "Heritage Through Art" examines the potential for poetry and other mediums to convey heritage,
n "Revitalizing Historic Theaters" shines the light on the cultural and economic value of this heritage,
n and more.

The sessions will be presented by people with knowledge and passion for their topics. You will get a variety of perspectives, and then be able to identify solutions for your form of heritage.

The Heritage Conference has more than three dozen sessions, many of them related to the theme of "Chart Your Course." Designed to be interdisciplinary, the conference focuses on all sectors of heritage, such as historic preservation, museums, archives, libraries, and local and state government.

This year's conference, which is organized by Oregon Heritage, is co-sponsored by the Coquille Indian Tribe.
