Is your dream to be able to calmly respond to a major disaster knowing that you already have a disaster plan in place?

If it is, Oregon Heritage and the Oregon Connecting to Collections Project could have a way to make it happen and possibly save your collections from unnecessary loss.

Oregon Heritage will be giving up to seven small cultural organizations the opportunity to have a professional consultant help them create a disaster plan for free. In addition to the plan, the consultant will also help the organization conduct a test exercise of it.

Applications to receive full consideration are due May 1. They are available at the Oregon Connecting to Collections website<http://www.mindyourcollections.org/>.

The offering is the result of a Connecting to Collections grant to Oregon Heritage from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Oregon Heritage, part of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, is comprised of the Oregon Heritage Commission, State Historic Preservation Office, and the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries.

For more information about the disaster planning award, as well as other collections care incentives and the Oregon Heritage MentorCorps, contact Mike Gushard at heritage.mentorcorps at oregon.gov or 503-986-0671.
