HPLO Publishes Special Report to Revitalize Historic Districts

 

The Historic Preservation League of Oregon is pleased to announce the
publication of their Special Report on "Healthy Historic Districts -
Solutions to Help Preserve and Revitalize Oregon's Historic Downtowns."  The
report is the outcome of the 2010 Preservation Roundtable which sought to
identify solutions to those issues that keep historic commercial districts
from thriving, such as ad hoc or incompatible development, vacant buildings
and empty lots, insufficient financial stimulus, and confusing or
inconsistent regulations.  

 

Nearly 100 participants representing diverse perspectives - including
preservationists, architects, city planners, government agencies,
environmentalists, property owners, and developers identified dozens of
ideas that were distilled into nine key recommendations ranging from
comprehensive district plans and design standards to tax incentives.

HPLO Seeks to Expand Board of Directors and Advisors

 

Help shape the direction of the Historic Preservation League of Oregon and
support our mission to "Preserve, Reuse, and Pass Forward Oregon's Historic
Resources to Ensure Livable, Sustainable Communities."  The HPLO is seeking
to expand its Board of Directors and Board of Advisors with additional
expertise and greater representation from around the state. 

 

Along with a passion for preservation-, we're looking for:

 

-          Board of Directors - individuals with expertise in land use,
sustainability, and fund development.  

-          Board of Advisors - regional representatives from the Gorge,
Central Oregon, and Mid-Valley.
