The Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research has an opening for a
half-time Library Technical Specialist.

JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to assist the librarian in providing
library information services using a variety of resources, including,
but not limited to, the CHR Library collection, online information
tools, and materials obtained from other libraries. Assists in the
maintenance of the CHR Library collection of print and online resources.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
Prefer Bachelor's degree with course work relevant to library or
information services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One year's experience in a library or similar research setting.
Expertise in the use of personal computers in a standard office setting.
Ability to locate information on the Internet and work with minimal
supervision. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates
warmth, cultural competence and responsiveness to customer needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with medical terminology, international cataloging
standards, and interlibrary loan protocols and copyright law. Two years'
experience in a health or research library. Experience with DOCLINE and
OCLC library computer systems.

HOURS/SHIFT: 20 hours per week.

PASSING A BACKGROUND CHECK AS WELL AS A DRUG SCREEN IS REQUIRED FOR ALL
EXTERNAL HIRES.
