Position Description: The Information Literacy Coordinator provides leadership for the Self Enhancement Multicultural Library by building literacy skills and administering library policies and services. This position is responsible for developing multicultural programs that foster a love for reading while ensuring that the library is the "hub" of literacy at the academy. This position reports to the Principal of the SEI Academy. This is a part-time position, hours 11 AM - 5:30 PM. 
* Plan, develop and implement library policies and services * Plan the evaluation and selection reference materials and books * Provide reference services for elementary through high school students, parents and staff * Plan and develop multicultural literary programs including, but not limited to the, African-American history and tradition * Develop and implement process for the acquisition, organization, maintenance, retrieval, and inventory of library materials and equipment * Work cooperatively with the SEI administration and public resources in selecting, ordering and maintaining a variety of appropriate instructional materials and equipment * Form positive relationships with students * Write weekly lesson plans for library skills instruction * Implement The Big 6 Library Skills Model * Manage the classroom to enable to effective classroom instruction * High school or equivalent required. * At least 2 years of professional library experience. * Experience working in an education environment highly desired.

Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian

General Description: Portland State University Library. The Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian provides reference and information services for the University's students and faculty as well as members of the general public, participates in a dynamic instructional program, consults and collaborates with scholars in specific academic units, including classroom and online instruction, and possibly for-credit courses, and selects information resources to support the instructional and research needs of a diverse institution. Some evening and weekend reference duty and/or instruction is required. Portland State expects its tenured faculty to contribute to faculty governance activities within the Library and the University, engage in community and professional service, and pursue an active publication and research agenda, seeking grants as appropriate. This full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position reports to the Assistant University Librarian for Public Services.
Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS; two years of full-time professional post-MLS experience in an academic library setting; evidence of professional service and scholarship; effective communications and collaborative skills; experience with library systems and Internet applications; collection development experience; experience using digital and Web technologies in the delivery of library services; experience integrating information literacy concepts into teaching; experience developing reference and instruction services; must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check and provide transcripts.
