Description: Position Overview:
The City of Springfield is announcing a career opportunity in our Library Department. The
Library team is looking for a Youth Services Librarian. This Librarian position will perform
professional library services for the Youth Service Division of the Library. The primary
responsibility of this position will be the coordination and implementation of Library
services for children ages birth to 6th grade and their families.

The successful candidate will perform professional library services and provide reference,
reader's advisory, and must be able to provide patron assistance on all public desks,
including the circulation desk; participates in, and supports the development of the
Youth Services Division by helping plan and implement the goals for the Division,
prepares and coordinates portions of the division budget; contributes to collection
development via selection, acquisition and cataloging of materials/resources; prepares
bibliographies, book lists, and program guides; organizes and maintains book and non-book
collections of assigned division; develops and leads story times and other
programs, completes book reviews; provides training; coordinates with schools and
other community agencies; may represent the library on City and State-wide committees
and organizations and community functions. May identify and prepare grants. May
provide lead to assigned staff. Will perform other related duties as assigned.
