A special opportunity for PLA members!
The Public Library Association (PLA) invites you to apply to attend the 2015 PLA Leadership Academy: Navigating Change · Building Community, March 23-27, in Charleston, an event that promises to offer empowering leadership education for public librarians.
Developed in collaboration with the International City and County Managers Association (ICMA), the PLA Leadership Academy offers a unique focus on developing the skills needed to work with municipal officials and other community stakeholders to enhance the position of the library within the community and improve the overall effectiveness of library services and programs.
The PLA Leadership Academy offers:
• A three and a half day, in-person educational/networking event;
• A professional coach program with experienced public library leaders and city managers
• Development of real-world projects to implement at attendees’ libraries

Application/Registration Details
Registration fees (valued at $2,500) are waived and all meals will be provided; however participants will be required to pay for their own travel and lodging at the Francis Marion Hotel (four nights at $189 +13.5% tax). Interested participants must complete an application, submit two letters of recommendation, and be accepted to participate in the PLA Leadership Academy. Applicants must be PLA Members and MLS/MLIS librarians with at least five years of increasingly responsible experience. The application deadline is September 30, and applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by November 21. Attendance is selective and will be limited to 32.
