[Libs-Or] Source for pro-bono financial planning programming at your library

Our friends at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau<http://www.consumerfinance.gov/library-resources/> have recently set up an agreement with the Foundation for Financial Planning<http://www.foundation-finplan.org/grants-and-programs/program-resources/program-resources> to provide "no strings attached" pro bono (i.e. no cost) financial planning programs to underserved populations through local libraries.

The Foundation and its partners are available to assist libraries with providing pro bono financial planning through workshops and individual one-on-one financial planning sessions. The Foundation works with other local FPAs in the state to help identify local members that can assist with pro bono programs.

The pro bono financial planners are guided by the following objectives.


*         Advice given is educational only.

*         Introduce the participant to the financial planning process.

*         Provide a one-on-one session to assist participants create a financial plan.

*         Helps participants set realistic financial goals.

*         Establish steps to obtain the participants financial goals.

*         No sales or promotion of any products or services are provided.

The Foundation will assist libraries identify financial planning professionals to support this initiative.
