Hi everyone:
I know there are lot more fun summer things to think about than whether or not you want to throw you name in the hat for the PLD Board, but if you want to (and you do), today is the last day to do so. If you want to run, please tell me the position you are interested in. Also, I need a short bio to include in the ballot. At least I think I do. So send one! End of day is good.

Greetings from the OLA PLD (too many acronyms?) Board!
It's that time of year when we start thinking about the continual renewal of the PLD Board with fresh faces and new perspectives. We are currently seeking candidates for the PLD Executive Board for the 2015-2016 year. New positions will begin in September 2015. We are seeking nominees for two Director-at-Large positions (2 year terms), Secretary (1 year term) and Vice Chair/Chair Elect (3 year term). The Public Library Division of OLA represents all public libraries in Oregon. The purpose of the PLD is to promote public library service and development, to promote the potential for increasing cooperation among public libraries, to represent the interests and concerns of public libraries in relation to the Oregon Library Association and the Oregon State Library and to develop legislative priorities for public libraries and other issues as may be pertinent to the Division.
We are involved in a number of exciting and interesting projects including SWAT (small improvement projects for libraries), an online policies clearinghouse, an annual library directors meeting and workshop, and the ever exciting review of public library standards (let me assure you, this can be contentiously fun stuff!), in addition to all the regular conference stuff (we already have cool stuff in the works!). Joining the PLD Executive Board is a great way to meet new people and network with public library staff from around the state. Current Board members come from the Oregon coast, central Oregon, the Willamette Valley and the Portland Metro area.
Please contact me (mcole at orcity.org<mailto:mcole at orcity.org>) by June 15, specifying the Board position you are interested in. Remember, you must be a member of OLA and the Public Library Division to be considered. Elections will be held in July.
This has probably been my favorite OLA job. There is some serious momentum with this Board and PLD activities. This is a great time to consider applying for a board position.
