OREGON TALKING BOOK AND BRAILLE LIBRARY HONORS DONORS WITH NEW DISPLAY

The Talking Book and Braille Library is unveiling a new way to honor people who make large donations to the Talking Book library. On October 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a ceremony to unveil the donor board.

The Talking Book program is a free, federal and state supported library service located at the State Library in Salem, Oregon. Books and magazines in special formats and audio players are loaned to anyone who cannot see to read regular print, hold a book to turn its pages, or who has a physically based reading disability. All of the lending is done free through the mail.

Donations and bequests are accepted to provide additional enhancements to the program such as NFB-NEWSLINE (a service that offers print disabled individuals access to major newspapers and magazines), expansion of collection, reaching out to Oregonians who do not currently use the service, summer reading program, and more.

Talking Books has been accepting donations for many years and now wants to honor those who have made Talking Books a priority in their planned giving. An Endowment fund was established in 2001 and has been growing steadily over the years. This fund will provide future investment income to sustain the program.

The public is welcome to attend the ceremony. The location is at the Oregon State Library, 250 Winter St NE, Salem, Oregon.
