Hello Oregon librarians,
My name is Carolyn Martin and I'm the Consumer Health Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Pacific Northwest Region (NNLM PNR<https://nnlm.gov/pnr>). I am contacting you because we are looking for a cohort of librarians to pilot some new tutorials.
I had mentioned these tutorials at our exhibit table at the Oregon Library Association Conference last week but want to mention we are extending the date for you to view and complete a survey regarding these micro-learning modules to May 8th.
Through conversations with several librarians, especially public librarians, we heard that many of you are in small libraries with minimal staff. Even libraries in large urban locations have limited time for staff to learn new resources or start new services.
Our classes and webinars, though free, are lengthy so we decided to create 6 micro-learning modules for public libraries regarding the National Library of Medicine (NLM) resource, NIH Senior Health<https://nihseniorhealth.gov/>. These short modules allow library staff to quickly learn the basics of using NIH Senior Health for use in reference work, to include in a library program, and to introduce patrons so they can use it on their own.
What we are asking, is if you would test these modules for us and give us feedback through a survey. We would appreciate your comments so as to know whether these micro-learning modules would be usable and effective ways to educate staff about NLM resources and then we would consider creating more. You may also have others on your library staff view these learning modules and fill out the survey as well. All the modules are located here https://nnlm.gov/pnr/guides/training-resources-you-can-use/microlearning including the link to the survey.
Please let us know your thoughts regarding these modules, via our survey, by May 8th, at http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3470458/PNR-Training-Session-Evaluation-PNR-revision
Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
