> Since 2006, libraries have connected with over 39,000 at-risk teens through the Great Stories Club (GSC), a highly successful reading and discussion program developed by the American Library Association (ALA) with funding support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Through graphic novels, memoirs, and literature, the GSC discussion groups explore humanities themes that resonate with readers struggling with complex issues like incarceration, violence, and addiction. The ALA has posted an application for the next round of GSC exploring themes that address empathy, heroism, and the coming of age experience.  We want to strongly encourage libraries that have not participated in the Great Stories Club before to apply. Please read ALA’s announcement below for more information about the program and how you can bring it to your library.
