I was involved in the no weapons presentation and I think we may have talked about waking sleepers in the library a little bit at some point. If the Growing Into Managment folks are sure it wasn't them, I would say it was probably us. The handout that I made for the session seems to indicate the session title was "Shining a Light on Weapons in Public Libraries."

Thanks,
Amy

Subject: [Libs-Or] Discussion at 2018 OLA conference

Hi all -

Buzzy Nielsen and I are writing an OLAQ article about the privacy/security implications of some policies we enacted during our time at Crook County Library, including a no sleeping policy. This move was inspired by a panel discussion at the 2018 OLA Conference in Eugene that, unfortunately, was not about sleeping in and of itself -- I say "unfortunately" because I can't remember which one it was! It was most likely a Friday afternoon session -- possibly either the one on Growing Into Management or the one on weapons in the library, but I don't feel confident choosing one over the other (and it could have been either or neither). I've looked through notes on the conference page, and no joy. Does anyone who was around for that conference remember what I'm talking about? Most people in the room that day indicated that their libraries had sleeping policies, which came as a surprise to me because my library did not.

Thanks and have a great weekend,
