Coordinator*

The Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of 37 academic libraries in the
Pacific Northwest, is hiring for the position of Program Manager –
Diversity and User Experience, and Consortial Training Coordinator

This role will work collaboratively across the consortium to lead new
initiatives in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and consortial
training. This is a remote position requiring occasional travel to and
within Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

Job Summary

The Program Manager for Diversity and User Experience, and Consortial
Training Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and works with
member libraries, vendors, consortium staff, and Alliance teams to oversee,
coordinate, develop, and assess the Diversity and User Experience Program,
and Consortial Training.

Major duties include:

   -

   Support members to improve the user experience at their institutions
   -

   Collaborate across Alliance programs on accessibility and usability of
   platforms
   -

   Oversee the development and incorporation of diversity, equity, and
   inclusion competencies into Alliance staff and programs
   -

   Coordinate training offered by Alliance across all member programs


Work is non-routine and requires collaboration, critical thinking,
creativity, and diplomacy. This position exercises independence, sound
judgment, and leadership in overseeing large, complex, distributed, and
high-profile projects and volunteer-based groups..

Additional expectations of all Alliance program managers include:

   -

   Lead or participate in new initiatives.
   -

   Propose and monitor program budget.
   -

   Engage in professional activities that develop professional skills and
   enhance the profile and operations of the Alliance.
   -

   Maintain an awareness of all Alliance programs; communicate with other
   programs and help coordinate activities across the consortium.
   -

   Demonstrate leadership in implementing and extending the Alliance
   Strategic Plan

Essential Functions:

   -

   Support for User Experience (20%):
   -

      Work closely with members to support UX projects and research with
      tools, training, and consultations.
      -

   Support for accessibility   (15%):
   -

      Work closely with members and Alliance staff to support examination
      and testing of accessibility on all discovery platforms.
      -

      Promote training and best practice resources for accessibility.



   -

   Lead management of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives (20%):
   -

      Work with members to incorporate DEI priorities into the work of the
      Alliance
      -

      Promote DEI culture and climate to staff, members, and leadership
      -

      Develop, monitor and report on DEI metrics for the Alliance



   -

   Lead coordination and planning of Consortial Training (30%)
   -

      Work with members to identify training priorities
      -

      Work with Alliance staff to coordinate training offerings to the
      membership
      -

      Develop schedule of training and events



   -

   Budget, logistics, and technology (5%):
   -

      Propose and monitor program budget.
      -

      Work with the Finance Manager to monitor payments, receipts,
      invoicing, and cash flow; with the Events and Office Manager on meetings,
      travel, and logistics; and with Systems Program staff on the development
      and support of systems and information technology that support the
      Diversity and User Experience program, and consortial training.



   -

   Other duties as assigned (10%)

Required Qualifications

   -

   Master’s or professional degree from an accredited college or university.
   -

   A progressively responsible, well-rounded record of related experience,
   such as five years of cumulative experience in a library, consortium,
   vendor, or equivalent setting.
   -

   Experience with user experience and accessibility training, tools, and
   standards.
   -

   Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion goals and practices in
   academic libraries.


   -

   Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to
   contribute effectively as a member of a team
   -

   Outstanding organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills;
   ability to detect and anticipate problems and develop solutions.
   -

   Demonstrated project management skills
   -

   Ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment
   -

   Demonstrated ability to:


   -

   Work collaboratively and lead volunteer-based groups
   -

   Provide responsive service to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and
   varied responsibilities;
   -

   Represent program areas to members, external partners, and the library
   community broadly


Preferred Qualifications

   -

   Recent, advanced experience with user experience and accessibility in a
   library, consortial, or vendor setting
   -

   Demonstrated experience with diversity, equity and inclusion goals and
   practices in academic libraries, or similar setting.
   -

   Demonstrated success managing complex, high-profile projects for a
   distributed team
   -

   Experience with training and/or instructional design
   -

   Demonstrated skill in public speaking


Physical Conditions

   -

   The employee may work remotely, relocation is not a requirement.
   -

   Willingness to travel to and within the Pacific Northwest to attend
   meetings or support members.
   -

   Ability to work independently, with most work done at a computer.


The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 per year. The
Alliance offers an exceptional benefits package including comprehensive
