The Eastern Oregon University Library invites applications for its faculty
tenure-track Collections / OER Librarian at the assistant professor rank
beginning January, 2023.

The Collections / OER Librarian has a vital role at EOU that has direct
impact on student success. The position calls for a collaborative, and
user-focused librarian with a keen interest in building and assessing
library collections. Applicants should have prior experience in collection
development.

The EOU Library employs a highly collaborative staff comprising six
librarians and five classified staff as well as numerous student workers.
The Library was extensively renovated in 2012, and is a beautiful place to
work. The Institution is a member of the Orbis Cascade consortium — members
share an Integrated Library System, participate in joint collections
purchases, and collaborate on a variety of initiatives.

This position works closely with all library faculty to help ensure that
library collections appropriately serve all stakeholder communities, and
works particularly closely with the Assistant Library Director. The
Collections / OER Librarian is responsible for managing the collection
decision-making processes leading to materials selection and deselection,
while the Assistant Director oversees the staff processes pertaining to
materials management. The Collections and OER Librarian makes key
contributions to the planning, formulation, implementation, and monitoring
of policy, and may serve on Orbis Cascade committees relating to position
areas of responsibility. This position reports directly to the Dean of the
Library.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time, 1.0 FTE position. The person in this role is
eligible for the full spectrum of employee benefits including comprehensive
individual and family medical, dental and vision insurance coverage (paid
95% or more by the University). The position comes with generous paid
time-off benefits (vacation, holidays and sick accruals) and superior
public retirement pension or 403(b) account benefits that feature as high
as 12% contributions paid by the University with no employee contributions
necessary.

               The primary responsibilities of this position are:

• Analyze and assess library collections to guide the
library in making data driven decisions;

• Takes the lead and oversees the acquisition and
collection policies and processes for the library collections including
print, digital, media, and emerging formats, including aligning the
library’s collection development practices with the community’s teaching
and research needs and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion;

• Maintains close working relationships with content
providers and vendors, as well as campus and consortial partners;

• Serves on appropriate library, campus, and consortial
committees;

• Serve as subject liaison for assigned academic
departments; liaison duties include subject-specific instruction, subject
guides, and collection development for those disciplines;

• Serve as an authority on emerging and evolving trends in
OERs. Recommend initiatives that can be undertaken to support emerging
needs on EOU’s campus; and

• Research and Scholarship, Contributions to EOU and
outreach to the community.
