Position Summary

The Cataloging and eAccess Manager is an unclassified, unrepresented,
unranked position that leads the Cataloging and eAccess unit.


The Cataloging and eAccess Manager position is a key role in the leadership
of the Library’s cataloging, eResources management and eAccess services.
Responsibilities include supervising, managing, and training Cataloging and
eAccess staff; short- and long-term planning; and prioritizing and
coordinating unit projects and activities. Trains, or provides training
for, all library staff with cataloging assignments. Work and liaise with
other library units to ensure proactive and optimal library workflow. This
position will serve on library management committees and participate in
library-wide planning activities.


The Cataloging and eAccess Manager creates and ensures a respectful work
environment that is inclusive and celebrates diversity. Supervises all
cataloging, eResources management, and affiliated and special projects.
Works with unit staff, librarians, library staff, library and bibliographic
system vendors, the Orbis Cascade Alliance, and library users to facilitate
library materials organization, discovery, and retrieval. Leads resource
management activities in the shared integrated library system (SILS).
Oversees creation and/or revision of bibliographic records. Ensures library
resources have appropriate bibliographic, holdings, and item and/or
portfolio records for each title. The position will also serve as the lead
monograph cataloger and will at times provide original cataloging for
print/tangible formats. Manages monitoring, resolving, and answering user
reported access and discovery problems online. Collaborates closely and
proactively with other library units such as Acquisitions, Collection
Development and Management, and Library Technologies.


The Cataloging and eAccess Manager participates in, or leads, Orbis Cascade
Alliance teams and work groups. This position also manages and/or
participates in special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

   -

   American Library Association accredited Master’s degree in Library
   Science;
   -

   Evidence of five years or more experience cataloging or eResource or
   eAccess management;
   -

   Demonstrated experience managing an integrated library management system;
   -

   Demonstrated proficiency in cataloging technologies, standards and
   practices, applications, and tools;
   -

   Evidence of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication
   skills; and
   -

   Demonstrated knowledge of issues and trends related to library
   cataloging, eResource management, and eAccess.


Preferred Qualifications

   -

   Demonstrated personnel management experience, including hiring,
   training, and evaluation of staff;
   -

   Experience in higher education and an academic library;
   -

   Work with ExLibris’ Alma/Primo resource management/discovery system,
   OCLC’s cataloging systems, and eResource management;
   -

   Ability to catalog in one or more non-English languages.


Compensation

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically
start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band.
PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking
into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and
abilities, market parity, and internal equity.


The starting annual salary for this position will be between $58,836 and
$64,356 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors
above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
