Subject: Reminder: Access to LearningExpress Library ending October 31, 2023

As was announced earlier this year<https://omls.oregon.gov/pipermail/kids-lib/2023-January/004138.html>, the State Library has cancelled the statewide library contract to LearningExpress Library<https://www.learningexpresshub.com/ProductEngine/LELIndex.html#/learningexpresslibrary/libraryhome> and Oregon libraries will no longer have access to this resource after October 31, 2023 unless you choose to subscribe to the resource directly from EBSCO.

More information about how to contact EBSCO to continue individual library subscriptions can be found on the Statewide Database Licensing Program website.<https://libguides.osl.state.or.us/SDLP_FAQ>

Please remember to alert your library users to these changes and remove information about LearningExpress Library your library's website if your library will not continue a direct subscription.

Links to LearningExpress Library will also be removed from the Libraries of Oregon website<https://www.galepages.com/oregon_pages> by November 1, 2023.

We have recently learned that the Oregon Career Information System (OCIS)<https://oregoncis.uoregon.edu/Portal.aspx> will continue to provide access to LearningExpress Library content to some of their licensed providers, which include many school districts, colleges and universities, and state service agencies such as WorkSource
For clarification if your institution is an eligible licensed provider (or can sign up to be one), please reach out to OCIS at 1.800.495.1266 or cisservice at uoregon.edu<mailto:cisservice at uoregon.edu> or speak to staff in your institution that manage career counseling/exploration services.

For those seeking free alternatives to some of the content provided by LearningExpress Library, I would recommend the following resources:


  *   Goodwill Community Foundation Learning's Core Skills modules<https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/subjects/core-skills/> covers basic skills in math, writing, reading, personal finance, and GED. They cover some technology such as Word and PowerPoint, cover some job search skills such as resume writing, and have resources in Spanish. See their complete list<https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/topics/> of topics.
  *   Kaplan<https://www.kaptest.com/study/ap-exam/> and Princeton Review<https://www.princetonreview.com/college/free-ap-practice-test> have a few free AP test prep resources. Each has some level of free ACT and SAT resources, too.
  *   The GED Testing Service<https://ged.com/study/free_online_ged_test/> has some free test samples.
  *   Career OneStop<https://www.careeronestop.org/> has a lot of great free resources for job seeking and career exploration
  *   Oregon Career Information System (OCIS)<https://oregoncis.uoregon.edu/Portal.aspx> has a variety of career exploration tools that are currently freely accessible with a guest account.
  *   WorkSource Oregon provides resources and support for job seekers and those seeking GED test support. See their website<https://www2.myworksourceportfolio.org/Default.aspx> and directory<https://www2.myworksourceportfolio.org/Locations.aspx> for centers located across the state.
