Who's Eligible: Assistance is open to organizations doing heritage preservation related work.
When Can I Apply: Each year, from July 1 to August 15.
Where Do I Apply: At this link: MentorCorps Application<https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/9e65c15ec618465582cbdccd940fbc3a>
How Long is Mentorship: Typically, from the middle of September of the application year, through June of the following year.
How Will Mentors Mentor Us: Most often virtually, with phone calls and in person opportunities available depending on location and scheduling availability.
How Are Mentors Chosen: We pair mentors with organizations based on skillset match to the requests received from organizations, and then by geographic location. When possible, we try to place mentors and mentees close so that in-person visits can occur.
How Frequently Do We Meet: As often as you both are available and is needed for your project. This is agreed upon by you and your mentor. Typically, it is one hour per month/every two months.
What Do I Have to Do: Show up to your mentorship meetings; complete the processes or work you agreed upon with your mentor (or adjust as needed); and submit an evaluation in June.
Who Are the Mentors: Mentors are experienced volunteers from around the state who have backgrounds in collections work, nonprofit management, disaster planning, project management, and unique skillsets such as volunteer management, board support, interpretation, oral histories, data management, archiving, etc.
We previously worked with a mentor. Can I still get help? Yes, with a catch. We evaluate applications each year based upon whether we have skills to meet the need, whether we have capacity to support the project, whether it is within our scope, and lastly, whether or not an organization has had previous service and support and how many times. First-time applicants who's applications fit the first three criteria will be prioritized.
Want help? Submit your MentorCorps Application today.<https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/9e65c15ec618465582cbdccd940fbc3a>
Open Application Period: July 1 - August 15, 2024
